Die Lichtinstallation wurde Ende 2014/Anfang 2015 an mehreren Orten in Hamburg errichtet, um unter dem Motto "Feuer und Flamme für Spiele in Hamburg" für eine Olympia-Teilnahme im Jahr 2024 zu werben.
Letztendlich konnte von den Bürgern aber keine notwendige Mehrheit eingeholt werden.
